Professors, university organizations, and grant projects can benefit from the use of Facebook as a platform for disseminating information and opportunities for students and alumni alike. Facebook is an open forum that can be used to discover and foster an interlinked community of citizens and scholars.
Research conducted in suggests that Facebook use by teachers creates a more comfortable classroom climate, if the Facebook persona matches the teaching style (J.P. Mazer, 2007).

You can create a group by going to the Groups application and clicking "Create a Group" in the upper right corner of the page. On the following page, you will be able to add descriptive information about your group. All groups require a group name, description and group type. Click "Create Group" when you are finished.
After you have added this information, you will then be able to control settings related to your group’s privacy and add a group picture. You can change these settings at any time by clicking "Edit Group" on the group’s main page.

To access the Groups application, use the bookmark in the Applications menu at the bottom left of the page. If you do not see a Groups bookmark in the menu, type "Groups" in the search box at the top of the page and follow the link that appears. While using the application, you will see the option to bookmark it in the bar at the bottom of the page. You may adjust the order of your bookmarks at any time by dragging them within the Applications menu.

To delete a group that's in the current design, follow these instructions. For old groups, our system automatically deletes groups once they're empty (no members). If you created the group, you can delete the group by removing all members and then yourself. Note that if you were not the first admin and creator of this group, you will not be able to delete the group unless the group creator has left it voluntarily.
